Shamsiah Kamaruddin, deputy-director general of MyIPO, in her welcoming remarks, said the focus of MyIPO's Teh Tarik Session is to engage stakeholders and key players in creating the needed awareness, generate interests and demonstrate the creation of a sustainable IP ecosystem under the 3 main pillars of IP Valuation, IP Financing and IP Marketplace.
Shamsiah stresses that IP rights are not new in Malaysia and as the custodian of IP rights in Malaysia, MyIPO has been creating the needed awareness in IP protection and capacity building within the general public as well as stakeholders; all towards the creation of a healthy, vibrant and exciting IP Ecosystem.
MyIPO's Teh Tarik Session today focuses on ICT companies as IP is a vital asset for all technology and innovation based companies. Each of the Teh Tarik Sessions provides a unique and excellent opportunity for businesses, influencers, stakeholders and key players to participate, engage, and share best practices in the area of IP Valuation and IP Financing.
Shamsiah emphasises that for this year's Teh Tarik Session, MyIPO is targeting sectors and industries such as ICT, Entertainment, Creative, Multimedia, Biotechnology, Green Technology, Research Institutes, Universities, as well as IP practitioners, IP agents, and accountants.
MyIPO has always advocated that IP is the driving force for spurring innovation, stimulating creativity, facilitating trade and investment, attracting more research and development into science and technology, all of which are essential components for sustainable economic growth and social development for the nation.
