Center names new leader [The Pueblo Chieftain, Colo. :: ]

(Pueblo Chieftain (CO) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) April 05--Maj. Gen. (Ret.) Tod Bunting is the new chief executive officer for the Center for American Values.

Bunting will focus on promoting the center to a national audience while further developing its educational outreach efforts. A community reception will be held later in April at the center to welcome Bunting.

Center cofounder and Medal of Honor recipient Drew Dix has worked closely with Bunting on several center-related projects over the past two years.

"I know when I say that I am very excited about Maj. Gen. Tod Bunting joining us, I speak for the entire board and staff of the Center for American Values," Dix said. "Tod is extremely passionate about the center and its mission to educate citizens about the sacrifices made by all to build and keep America a country we would be proud to raise our families in.

"We are fortunate to have him at our side as we move the Center for American Values to the next level in the national arena. Both Tod and his wife, Barbara, are deeply committed to education and I know they will become heavily engaged with our efforts, not just in Pueblo and Colorado, but throughout this great country of ours." Bunting retired as the adjutant general of Kansas where he provided leadership for more than 7,700 soldiers and airmen in the Kansas Army and Air National Guard.

He also served as director of Homeland Security and Emergency Management for Kansas, where he worked to ensure state security and guided preparation for and response to disasters. The Kansas emergency management provides guidance and training for 105 county emergency managers and their staff.

Prior to his Kansas position, Bunting was the Air National Guard director of diversity, personnel and training, and was responsible for Air Force personnel mobilization programs. In addition he has served as chairman of the board of National Guard Association of the United States.

He currently serves as vice chairman of the National Guard Educational Foundation and a board member of Heroes Among Us, an organization that provides critical needs assistance to veterans and supports wounded warriors and their families with pheasant hunts and other family activities.

"I am honored and excited to join the team at the Center for American Values, and look forward to being part of its essential mission and outreach programs to become part of the fabric of America in each and every state," said Bunting.
