Soccer: JFA vice president Tashima to run for FIFA ex-co

(Japan Economic Newswire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Japan Football Association vice president Kozo Tashima said on Wednesday that he will run for a seat on FIFA's executive committee from Asia.

The 56-year-old Tashima announced his candidacy at JFA House following a meeting among officials from the East Asian Football Federation and ASEAN nations.

Currently, there are three FIFA ex-co members from the Asian Football Confederation -- FIFA vice president Prince Ali bin Al Hussein of Jordan, Worawi Makudi of Thailand and AFC President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa of Bahrain.

Tashima previously ran in January 2011 and lost. Japan has not had a member on the FIFA ex-co since Junji Ogura retired.
