BRIEF: St. Paul's city attorney will serve as interim deputy mayor [Pioneer Press, St. Paul, Minn. :: ]

(Saint Paul Pioneer Press (MN) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) April 09--St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman has announced two staffing changes at City Hall.

City Attorney Sara Grewing will serve as deputy mayor on an interim basis until a permanent replacement is found for Paul Williams, who will step down on April 11 to lead Project for Pride in Living, a housing nonprofit. Grewing will continue to serve as city attorney while juggling the new role.

The mayor's office has also hired a new communications director. Tonya Tennessen, an account director with the public relations firm of Weber Shandwick, will fill the position left vacant by the departure of Joe Campbell, who stepped down last month to become marketing manager at MNsure, the state health insurance exchange.

Tennessen previously served as communications director for the state Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party, press secretary for then-U.S. Senator Mark Dayton, and communications director for the Kelly Doran for Governor campaign. She begins the job April 30. She will earn a $100,000 annual salary in her new position.
