MCCI Commends CBET College
(AllAfrica Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) President for the Malawi Confederation of Chambers and Industry (MCCI), Newton Kambara, has commended Computer Business Education Training College (CBET) for being the first private college to offer diploma in Strategic business Information System in the country.
He was speaking during CBET's graduation ceremony at Malawi Posts Corporation were the students went away with Level 7 diplomas in the field.
He said this was a good development to the working class who wanted to further their information technology skills.
"These graduates were learning while still working and this is very commendable as we all know time is very precious," explained Newton.
He also said this would allow more people to study IT as it is much more affordable to do it here than overseas.
"This course is UK based and the accrediting body is NCC Education so CBET had to strike a deal with these guys to make the course available locally," he said.
Speaking on the ongoing tobacco sales he said it was very important that government set minimum prices for the buyers as farmers go through hard times to produce the leaf.
"I can tell you that it is necessary for government to set a minimum price. It is sad to not that they(the buyers) can be buying tobacco of same quality with ours for US$2 dollars here and buy the same for US$4 dollars in a country in the same region like ours which is very unfair," he said.
This is the first set of graduates in the field of strategic business information system at CBET.
