Pooled Buying Power is a Win for All Involved with The Municipal Pool

ST. PAUL, Minn. --(Business Wire)--

When it comes to group insurance rates, the larger the group, generally the lower the cost of coverage per employee.

The Municipal Pool®, offered by Ochs, Inc. allows public sector employers with 1,000 or fewer employees to pool their buying power, lowering their costs and stabilizing their rates from year to year. More than 370 employers use it to purchase coverage for more than 78,000 employees.

"Pooled buying power is a win for all involved," said Cambra Aasen, president and CEO, Ochs, Inc. "The public sector employers who join the pool keep their costs down and their employees receive high-quality benefits at redued rates."

Ochs created The Municipal Pool in 1955 and has used it on behalf of cities, counties, school districts and other public employers throughout the Upper Midwest and the nation ever since. They trademarked the brand this spring.

Ochs, Inc. administers a variety of employee benefits, including group life, disability, accidental death and dismemberment and long term care insurance. They work with insurance carriers and benefit specialists, providing customized benefit packages for each employee group. The firm was founded in 1943 in St. Paul, Minnesota, where it remains headquartered today. Ochs, Inc. is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Securian Financial Group.

Since 1880, Securian Financial Group and its affiliates have provided financial security for individuals and businesses in the form of insurance, investments and retirement plans. Now one of the nation's largest life insurance groups, it is the holding company parent of several companies.

Insurance products are issued by Minnesota Life Insurance Company in all states except New York where products are issued by Securian Life Insurance Company, a New York authorized insurer. Both companies are headquartered in Saint Paul, MN and each insurer is solely responsible for the financial obligations under the policies and contracts it issues. Product availability and features may vary by state.
