BRIEF: TTU names sole finalist for Founding President, Dean of HSC El Paso [Lubbock Avalanche-Journal, Texas :: ]


(Lubbock Avalanche-Journal (TX) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) April 18--Dr. Richard Lange has been selected as the sole finalist for the founding president and new dean of the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in El Paso.

Chancellor Kent Hance made the announcement Friday.

Lange, 58, is the vice chairman of medicine and director of educational programs at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center in San Antonio and holds a faculty appointment at Johns Hopkins Medicine in Baltimore, according to a news release.



Lange has a bachelor's degree in biochemistry from the University of North Texas and a master's degree from UT-Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, according to the news release.

He has been the president of the Texas American Heart Association Affiliate and has assisted in investigations about ischemic heart disease, valvular heart disease and congenital heart disease in adults.


Lange and his wife, Joy, have three children and two grandchildren, the press release reads.
