Take tech help to protect your info [DNA : Daily News & Analysis (India)]

(DNA : Daily News & Analysis (India) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) "In a world of sophisticated and invasively innovative technology where professionals with bad intent can steal people's personal life, there are equally sophisticated methods to protect data in servers, in computers and laptops. They range from antivirus software to encryption techniques.

Computer expert Shashank Chourey says, "buy a legal antivirus and install it on your phone, laptop and computer device." He felt that people tend to ignore the importance of antivirus software. An antivirus disallows unregistered programmes and continuously keeps a check on the installed files.

"Antivirus helps keep your information secure by flashing a sign in case of any suspecting programme which hacker might transfer to your system," added Chourey. Antivirus deletes unsafe files of your computer and alerts the user about suspicious changes in the system.

Computer engineer Puneet Dabaria says, "Firewalls play an important role in blocking unauthorized access to any system." He explained that people should buy their operating system software legally like Windows, Mac, Solaris, or Linux. "Licensed Operating systems provide various security measures with updates which keep your information safe," added Dabaria. "Expert level hackers cannot crack encrypted data as encryption codes one character in 256 bits" said Chourey. Encryption of data while sending important data secures the information forever.

Most banks use encryptions and hence even when a person forgets the password, he/she can reset it but old passwords are never recovered.  Dabaria said, "Every net banking transaction is secured by https in the url stands for security which means everything you enter is encrypted and cannot be cracked." Another way to secure yourself is to make home Wi-Fi connections password protected.  "Accessing open Wi-Fi risks your information as Wi-Fi's can be easily sniffed" said Chourey. Dabaria explained, "Dynamic IP address fight back hackers who try to trace information." Dynamic IP addresses can be generated by reconnecting your internet every few minutes or an hour whenever you are working on confidential information.
