SS&C Technologies Founder, CEO Compensated $40 Million Last Year [The Hartford Courant :: ]


(Hartford Courant (CT) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) April 21--William C. Stone, founder and CEO of SS&C Technologies Holdings Inc., had a total compensation of $40.06 million last year, according to documents filed April 16 with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.



The bulk of that sum was $34.85 million in value realized on exercising stock options. Stone's compensation also included $848,958 in salary, a $4 million bonus, $5,032 in "other compensation," and $356,296 in value realized in stock vesting.

Stone's total compensation in 2012 was $5.01 million.


The Courant calculates yearly compensation as the sum of salary, bonus, value exercised from stock options and vested stock awards, plus other forms of direct pay, such as incentive payments and personal use of corporate aircraft.

Separately last year, Stone received option awards valued at $1.72 million when they were granted. The ultimate value of option awards will depend on the company's performance in the future.

Chief Financial Officer Patrick J. Pedonti's compensation totaled $5.48 million, not including option awards valued at $607,786 when they were distributed. The ultimate value of the option awards depends on the company's performance in the future.

Chief Operating Officer Normand A. Boulanger's compensation totaled $9.08 million, not including $861,030 in option awards.

Senior Vice President Rahul Kanwar's compensation was $4.12 million, not including $709,084 in option awards.

General Counsel Paul G. Igoe's compensation was $660,719.

Headquartered in Windsor, SS&C provides software and software services to financial-services companies.

SS&C was founded by Stone in 1986 and went public 10 years later. The Carlyle Group, a private investment firm, took it private in 2005 along with Stone in a $1 billion buyout. The company grew and went public again in March 2010.
