Facebook has decided to remove chat from the main Facebook app and put it inside a separate app called Messenger, and users don't have a choice about changing. Either they install the new app, or they lose access to chat. There's one simple workaround though: delete all the apps and just use Facebook's mobile site in your browser. You can still chat there.
