Minister of Culture chairs ARCWH third meeting [Bahrain News Agency]
(Bahrain News Agency Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Manama, Feb 5 (BNA) – Arab Regional Centre for World Heritage (ARCWH)'s Board of Directors, today, held its third meeting under the chairmanship of Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, Minister of Culture and ARCWH's Chairperson.
The meeting was attended by ARCWH's Director Dr. Mounir Bouchenaki, Ministry of Foreign Affair's Assistant Undersecretary for Arab and Afro-Asian affairs Shaikha Rana bint Isa Al Khalifa, Director of Arab Unit at the UNESCO World Heritage Centre Nadda Al-Hassan, International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS)'s Director Regina Durighello, International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN)'s Director Timothy Badman, The International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property (ICCROM)'s General-Director Joseph King and Qatar Museums Authority's Chairman Sultan Al-Mohsin.
The meeting discussed the 2014 ARCWH's program and future strategy. Dr. Bouchenaki praised Shaikha Mai bin Mohammad Al Khalifa's role in supporting the ARCWH's efforts aimed at preserving mankind heritage and disseminating awareness about the risks harming the World Heritage in the Arab world, underscoring the importance of bolstering cooperation among the institutions of heritage protection in the world.
The ARCWH in Bahrain is the first of its kind in the Middle East, which provides international expertise, methods and techniques in order to push the Arab heritage to the world.
