U.S. issues advisory against using Internet Explorer browser(Japan Economic Newswire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) The U.S. Department of Homeland Security on Monday advised against using Microsoft Corp.'s Internet Explorer because of a security flaw that may be exploited by potential hacker attacks. Microsoft said Saturday it is aware of "limited, targeted attacks" on vulnerability in the browser's versions 6 to 11. An attacker could delete data or lead computer users to a specially crafted website, it said. The company is encouraging customers to enable a firewall, apply all software updates and install antimalware software. It has not yet provided a security software update to fix the flaw. U.S. data security company FireEye said a group of hackers have been exploiting the bug, seemingly targeting U.S-based companies tied to defense and financial sectors, Reuters news agency said.
