Road rage in Bartlett leads to confrontation with shotgun [The Commercial Appeal, Memphis, Tenn. :: ](Commercial Appeal (Memphis, TN) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) April 29--Bond was set at $100,000 Monday for a Memphis man charged with several offenses in connection with a "road rage" incident in Bartlett where he is accused of pointing a shotgun at another driver. Creighton Q. Douglas, 24, of 3540 Greenside, Apt. 302, appeared in Bartlett Municipal Court charged with aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, resisting arrest, evading arrest and reckless driving in the case. During the bond hearing, Douglas said he worked for The Carter Malone Group, the local marketing and public relations firm founded by Democratic county mayoral candidate Deidre Malone. Malone said Monday afternoon that Douglas previously worked part time with the firm but had not worked there for several months. Police said about a half dozen of Malone's campaign signs were found in the car Douglas was driving when he was arrested after the episode Saturday morning. Also recovered were a 20-gauge shotgun, more than 20 shells, plus a .22-caliber assault rife, according to the police offense report. The victim, Bubba Sandefer, said he was returning from buying shoes when he encountered Douglas in a 2010 Chevrolet Impala at the traffic signal on Stage at Elmore Park. "Next thing I know, he cuts in between me and another car," Sandefer said. "I had to slam on my brakes so I didn't hit him. ... All I did was tap my horn -- 'boop, boop' -- and rode on past him." Sandefer said from there, the jockeying continued along Stage until Douglas slammed on his brakes. "He jumps out, yelling stuff at me and acting all crazy. We exchanged words. He jumped back in the car, and I just drove around him. I figured it was all over and he got it out of his system." But Douglas continued to pursue Sandefer, the victim said. Along the way, Sandefer was on the phone with police dispatch, driving slowly to give police time to arrive. "He passes me and locks up his brakes again and pulls out a shotgun," Sandefer said. "He throws it up looking down the barrel at me and starts walking toward me." Sandefer said he backed up, and the gunman drove away. Police found Douglas on Stage and North Star. Douglas was captured after a chase on foot.
