Colorado Public Television Names Kimberly A. Johnson President and Chief Executive Officer

(Targeted News Service Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) DENVER, April 29 -- Colorado Public Television issued the following news release: Today, the Board of Directors for Colorado Public Television (CPT12, Channel 12 PBS) has named Kimberly A. Johnson as President and General Manager for the statewide broadcasting service. The move completes a year-long transition of leadership with Johnson serving as the first woman president for the organization.

Johnson, a Colorado native, began her career in broadcasting in 1982 working as a camera operator and editor for field and studio productions. She joined CPT12, then known as KBDI, in 1989 as a production manager. From there, she moved up through the ranks to become vice president of broadcast operations in 2002 before her promotion to chief operating officer in 2010. Since April 2013, Johnson has been serving as the interim general manager and chief operating officer.

"The board of directors came to the unanimous decision to support Kim's ascension to the executive leadership role at CPT12. Over the past year she has proven to have the kind of solid vision and leadership skills that we wanted to have in place as the media landscape shifts from broadcast to online viewing," said Chris Bittman, Chairman of the CPT12 board of directors. "We're delighted to turn over the reins of this already progressive organization to a leader with vast operations, fiscal management, strategic planning and community engagement experience and look to an exciting future of innovation and growth at Channel 12." In addition to extensive experience in operations, production, legal affairs, facilities management and content development, Kim has produced several award-winning programs that have been broadcast locally and nationally, and has directed and produced video projects for commercial enterprises. Her technical background includes intensive coursework, operational experience and a First Class Radio telephone license. Kim holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Technical Journalism and is active in several community organizations.

"I am honored and excited to help steer Colorado Public Television forward in this age of broadcasting shift and change," commented Johnson. "CPT12 has always been an innovative and forward-focused place to work, from our early days of bringing diverse voices to our air. Today and moving forward, we look ahead at continuing to lead the independent media landscape both locally and nationally."
