NCKU to Set Up Dutch Design Post for International Designers


TAINAN, Taiwan --(Business Wire)--

National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), Tainan, Taiwan, set up the Dutch Design Post (DDP) as a new trading post for creative sectors at 321 Artist Village on May 3rd, according to the university.

The DDP is initiated by the Culture and Creativity Incubation and R&D Center (CCIRDC) from the College of Planning and Design at NCKU and Dr. Bart van Bueren from the Netherlands, who is a visiting profssor at NCKU.



The opening ceremony of the DDP took place at 321 Artist Village at 1:00 p.m. on May 3.

Tainan was a Dutch trading post, with a village and two forts - Fort Zeelandia and Fort Provintia - 350 years ago and the DDP located in central Tainan serves as a facility for Dutch designers to work and stay when venturing in Tainan, according to the CCIRDC.


It is a Dutch Design building with amenities such as shops, accommodation and workspaces.

The building is intended for Dutch designers and makers from the creative sector who wish to explore local Taiwanese creative industries.

Two Dutch designers were invited at a time, each for a period of between three and six months.
