INFINITI Q50 LAUNCHED IN OMAN [Week, The (Oman)]

(Week, The (Oman) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Encapsulating Infiniti's vision of future premium sport sedans, Suhail Bahwan Automobiles (SBA) launched the Infiniti Q50 in Oman last week. The new Q50 marks a new era for Infiniti's model range, a press release said. The Q50 brings distinctive design, new technologies, engaging performance and a new standard of incar connectivity. Offering new levels of driving personalisation, the Q50 is for the new generation of youngminded, premium customers seeking Infiniti's unique fusion of inspired performance and hospitality.

Juergen Schmitz, general man ager of Infiniti in the Middle East, said, "The Q50's muscular, athletic appearance brings a blend of dynamic exterior styling and Infiniti's signature 'double wave' interior design which creates an emotional engagement. The Q50's looks alone make it standout in its class.

"But the Q50 also introduces a new era of technology and features to our range. After ten years of development, we have transferred the digital steering system used in aviation for decades to the auto motive industry and made it standard across the Infiniti Q50 range in the Middle East in the form of Direct Adaptive Steering. It offers the driver multiple settings of steering weight and response speed, giving them a personalised driving experience to suit their mood, whether its inspired by performance or the desire for comfort.

"As a global brand, Infiniti is entering a new era focused on new products, new technology and new designs for our customers. Infiniti Q50 is the embodiment of this new vision." Launching the new Infiniti, Sheikh Ahmed Bahwan, chairman of SBA Group, said, "After its successful launches held in other mar kets, I am confident that the impressive Infiniti Q50 will definitely create a great impact among customers in Oman. With stand out compact looks, classleading driving dynamics and an interior design offering comfort, convenience and space, the Q50 is a class apart vehicle." Also present at the launch was Divyendu Kumar, managing director of SBA Group, who said, "The Infiniti Q50 is equipped to reward the diverse lifestyles of the Middle East's customers. With reinvigora ted design and improved levels of standard technology, the Q50 will not only appeal to existing customers but also attract a new range of enthusiastic buyers looking for a stylish and premium sport sedan." The worldsfirst in the Q50 include the Predictive Forward Collision Warning system which alerts the driver to risks that lie beyond their field of view, sensing the speed and distance of the vehicle directly ahead and of the one travelling in front of that, giving early warning of a potential accident. Active Lane Control helps the Q50 remain in the middle of the lane, preventing the driver unintention ally moving from between the marker lines and reducing the need for minor adjustments of the steering wheel while cruising along highways.

Inside the Q50, occupants are greeted by another worldpre miere not just one touch screen control panel but two. These offer intuitive access to an array of features which tailor their driving experience and also Infiniti InTouch which puts communication with the outside world within easy reach. This telematics system integrates handsfree phone, moving map navigation, entertainment and smart phone apps in a way that is safe and easy to use.

The Q50 range introduces the brand's first hybrid powertrain also alongside the refined 326hp 3.7ltr V6 engine. The Q50 Hybrid mates a 35ltr V6 petrol engine with Infiniti's Direct Response net 350hp and 536Nm of combined torque with Intelligent Dual Clutch Control, making it capable of reaching 100km/h from a standing start in 5.1 seconds.

All models come equipped with a refined sevenspeed automatic transmission with available solid magnesium paddle shifters. The Infiniti Drive Mode Selector with Eco, Standard, Sport and Custom settings is also standard on all models, part of the advanced customisable digital environment system that allows drivers to create unique settings for engine, transmission, handling and steer ing controls.

The 2014 Infiniti Q50 is avail able in Premium and Sport grades, the latter featuring sport styling, brakes and suspension tuning. The Q50's advanced range of safety features are available as part of the Technology Pack available across all derivatives.
