Premier League CEO apologizes over leaked 'inappropriate' emails containing jokes about women

(Canadian Press DataFile Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) MANCHESTER, England - The head of the English Premier League has apologized after private emails were published containing jokes about women.

The Sunday Mirror newspaper published exchanges by chief executive Richard Scudamore with colleagues and friends after copies were taken by his former personal assistant.

In a statement issued on the last day of the Premier League season, Scudamore says "I accept the contents are inappropriate and apologize for any offence caused, particularly to this person." Scudamore says she was a temporary worker who "should not have accessed" the emails. But he accepts the emails were "an error of judgment that I will not make again." Scudamore was due at league leader Manchester City on Sunday for its title-deciding game against West Ham.
