Two area IT firms announce merger [Dayton Daily News, Ohio :: ]

(Dayton Daily News (OH) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) May 12--The Greentree Group's information technology commercial services division will expand to Columbus and grow its staff through a merger announced Monday with Kettering-based Midwest Design Computers Inc.

Back to Business I.T. will merge with Midwest Design Computers, effective June 1. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The combined businesses will have more than 400 clients in the region and will retain the Back to Business I.T. name, said Travis Greenwood, president and chief executive of Beavercreek-based The Greentree Group.

The Greentree Group's total staff will grow to more than 90 after the merger is complete. The company provides technical, financial and program management services to clients that include the U.S. Department of Defense. It also has offices in Oklahoma City and Austin, Texas.

Back to Business I.T. will gain an office in Columbus through the merger. The division provides remote monitoring, maintenance and management of client IT networks from its secure facility in Beavercreek.

"It is the fastest growing part of our business," Greenwood said.

Midwest Design Computers President Terry Rogers and Executive Vice President Jeremy Filia will join the merged company as consultants.

"We will have several other employees coming over, no jobs will be lost," Rogers said.

Rogers said the merger allows him to focus on his other business, Midwest Security Services, which has grown more than 400 percent since it launched in 2008. That company has 22 employees at its Kettering office and a Columbus site.
