TRA receives ISO certification [Emirates News Agency (WAM) (United Arab Emirates)]


(Emirates News Agency (WAM) (United Arab Emirates) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) ABU DHABI, 13 April, 2014 (WAM)-- The UAE Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (TRA) has been awarded three separate ISO (International Organisation for Standardisation) certificates post an independent quality and management systems evaluation by the Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance (LRQA).



The LRQA said that the Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE) policy objectives, targets, management programmes both implemented and established at the TRA were satisfactory .

"Continuing in our commitment to excellence and ensuring we in the UAE meet the very highest of international standards, the TRA is proud to announce its ISO Quality 9001:2008, Environment ISO 14001:2004 and Health and Safety Management system 18001:2007 certifications, which comes as an indication of the priority we assign to implement world class levels of excellence," said Ahmed Al Qamzi, TRA CEO.


"Receiving these internationally recognized certifications evidences our success in pursuing a progressive path for the nation s ICT sector as well as the TRA sintentionto continually improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our operations for the benefit of the UAE public," he added.

ISO develops International Standards, including management system standards although is not involved in the certification of any of the standards it develops. Certification is always performed by external certification bodies, which are largely private entities.

Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance (LRQA) is a world leading, independent provider of Business Assurance services including management system certification, validation, verification and training to bespoke and international standards and schemes.
