Anderson named schools' operations director [The Lebanon Democrat, Tenn. :: ]

(Lebanon Democrat, The (TN) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) May 24--Lebanon Special School District announced Friday Richard Anderson would be its new director of operations.

Director of Schools Scott Benson said Anderson would provide leadership and direction in transportation, maintenance and facilities. He will serve as director of transportation and manage, coordinate and monitor all aspects of school bus transportation.

Anderson received a bachelor of science degree from Tennessee Tech University, as well as advanced degrees from Austin Peay State University and Tennessee Tech.

Anderson previously served as a principal, teacher and coach during his tenure in Wilson and Smith counties. He received various leadership recognitions, including Region 4AA Coach of the Year. Since 2003, he served as principal of Union Heights Elementary School, a state recognized 2013 Reward School.

"We are excited to have such a recognized leader in education joining our team," Benson said. "We believe that Mr. Anderson's experience will provide exemplary leadership and direction for our growing district." Anderson will replace Mark Medley, who previously served as director of operations since November after the retirement of longtime transportation director Pat Hughes.

Anderson and wife, Gina, have two children, Alex and Allie.
