Pemex Appoints Garcia as CEO of E&P [Gulf Oil & Gas (Egypt)]
(Gulf Oil & Gas (Egypt) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) The President, Enrique Pena Nieto, appointed Gustavo Hernandez Garcia as CEO of Pemex Exploration and Production (PEP), with effect from 1 June this year. Hernandez Garcia acted since last February 7 in charge of the Directorate General of PEP.
Petroleum engineer with expertise in Reservoir Engineering from UNAM, has 34 years of professional experience. From 1979 to 1992 worked at the Mexican Petroleum Institute and has held various positions as a specialized professional and tenured researcher.
Later he joined as head of Petroleos Mexicanos Reservoir Characterization Department in Ciudad del Carmen. Among other positions, he has been assistant manager of Operational Design in Marina District, Administrator Active Ku-Maloob-Zaap and manager of Planning and Evaluation for Northeast Marine Region.
In 2009 he was appointed deputy director of the Southwest Marine Region of PEP, focusing on the production of light oil fields and in the delineation and development of deepwater fields as Lakach, Piklis and Kunah.
In 2010 he was appointed deputy director of Planning and Evaluation, having among its responsibilities, driving strategy PEP, distribute investments in the portfolio of projects, certify hydrocarbon reserves and ensure regulatory compliance agency to the National Commission Hydrocarbons.
In his union work has been national president of the Association of Petroleum Engineers of Mexico (2010-2012) and secretary of the Association of Petroleum Engineers of Mexico in 2002-2004. He is currently president of the Specialty Committee on Petroleum Engineering Academy of Engineering.
For his professional accomplishments, he has been awarded the National Award for Petroleum Engineering 2011, Miguel Angel Centeno Association Prize Petroleum Engineers of Mexico 2010 and the Mexican Petroleum Institute Award 2012.
Also has written more than 60 technical papers he has presented at national and international forums and has teaching experience in the Energy Program of the College of Mexico, at the Institute for Research in Applied Mathematics and Systems and the Faculty of Engineering of the UNAM.
