RTA Dubai Mobile App [T-break Tech (Middle East)]
(T-break Tech (Middle East) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) In line with Dubai’s vision of making all government transactions and information easily accessible online, RTA (Roads and Transport Authority) released an app compatible for both Android and iOS smartphones that lets you access all information you may need about Dubai’s laws and regulations on roads and public transport.
Simply named RTA Dubai, the RTA Dubai Mobile app is primarily composed of four main menus: Driver, Transit, Madinati and More Services. The Driver page is where you can access all related inquiries for driving a vehicle in Dubai, including fine inquiries, payment for parking, service centre listings and even practice on an RTA Theory Test to check your driving knowledge. There is also mParking services embedded under the Driver menu that lets you easily pay for parking tickets right from your smartphone (supports Dubai-issued plates only) without the need to go to a parking meter and pay in coins.
Transit pertains to all of RTA’s public transport systems including the Dubai Metro stations, bus stations and stops and water taxi services. You can even check your Nol card (card used as a payment system for public transport) balance and top it up if necessary. I especially like the fare calculator that lets you calculate how much it would cost to go from point A to point B.
Madinati services let you report any form of disruption that you can submit to the RTA. You can even attach images and give the precise location of the issue you are reporting – a good way get users more involved in making sure roads are in tip top shape.
The amount of information that you will ever need as a driver and public commuter is easily accessible with the RTA Dubai app. Only complaint is that it crashes most of the time, though that can be easily resolved with a software patch. The app supports English and Arabic and is available for free on iOS and Android devices.
