Below is a full list of our undergraduate programmes, and you will be able to find out more about them at our Undergraduate Open Day on Wednesday 25 June. BA (HONS) 3D DESIGN This is a unique programme in its field as students can try all disciplines (Product, Furniture, Ceramics and Interiors) in their 1st year before specialising. Learning is by hands-on making, with many live projects with industry.



BA (HONS) ARCHITECTURAL TECHNOLOGY AND THE ENVIRONMENT The programme gives students a sound understanding of building design, building construction and sustainable technology. The course highlights the need for building designers to be environmentally responsible and technically competent.

BA (HONS) ARCHITECTURE (AND MASTER OF ARCHITECTURE) Students explore how we perceive, inhabit and interpret our built environment; how we value our built environment for current and future generations and develop how to think outside the box and to problem solve. Programmes are validated by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA). BSC (HONS) BUILDING SURVEYING AND THE ENVIRONMENT The programme lays the foundations for a successful career as a building surveyor, building knowledge and skills in the physical care, repair and refurbishment of buildings. The programme prepares students for a range of potential routes in the construction sector including quantity surveying, property management or building regulation. BSC (HONS) CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT AND THE ENVIRONMENT The programme enables students to build their knowledge and skills in construction technology, processes and management, preparing students for a range of routes in the construction sector including project management, site organisation, estimating, and planning. BA/BSC (HONS) DIGITAL ART AND TECHNOLOGY The programme covers a range of dynamic and exciting areas of technology, including website development, mobile app development, games design, animation, projection mapping, digital audio, video, 3D (immersive and augmented reality), simple electronics, interactive gallery installations, social media apps. BA (HONS) FINE ART Fine Art is an exciting, controversial and challenging subject open to people from all walks of life. It can lead to a variety of careers and offers rich opportunity for personal development. In parallel with contemporary art practice, the BA (Hons) Fine Art course at Plymouth offers a unique opportunity for students to follow their own path through a range of subject areas. BA (HONS) FINE ART AND ART HISTORY This is the ideal programme for students who enjoy analysing and writing about art as well as creating it, and who are keen to learn about past and present art. As the boundaries between these different aspects of the art world crumble, dissolve and merge, there has never been a more exciting and opportune time to train in the practice and the history of art.


BA (HONS) GRAPHIC COMMUNICATION WITH TYPOGRAPHY This programme is about exploring the use and meaning of words and how they are communicated using typography.Years 1 and 2 cover all aspects of Graphic Communication, then in the final year students have the option to specialise in either Identity and Branding, Editorial and Publishing or Information Design. BA (HONS) ILLUSTRATION The curriculum embraces a host of areas - including character design, publishing, children's markets, editorial, printmaking, life and location drawing, design for screen, creative writing, comics and graphic novels, animation, autonomous practice, digital software, digital apps and multimedia, typography, photography and contextual studies - all equipping students towards a range of career paths.

BA/BSC (HONS) INTERNET DESIGN Students develop comprehensive internet development skills including: graphic design and typography, client side and server side programming, databases and datafeeds, integration with web services and social media. Students can also explore future technologies including the "Internet of Things" and "Cloud-based systems".

BA (HONS) MEDIA ARTS The programme embraces video, photography, sound, animation and a range of digital media. Course delivery is focused on: creative practice which underpins all of the work produced on the course, technical expertise, collaborative and work- based practice, critical theory and professional engagement. BA (HONS) PHOTOGRAPHY Students can develop their passion for making, using and analysing images by engaging with the world around them and exploring the medium's potential to inform, influence and entertain. With a purpose-built environment and facilities students evolve their own visual language, following in the footsteps of prizewinning photography students and graduates.

BA (HONS) EARLY CHILDHOOD STUDIES This highly innovative 3-year course takes an interdisciplinary approach to the study of Early Childhood. By drawing on disciplines such as social psychology, sociology history and philosophy, the course will prepare you for a career within the Early Years sector BA (HONS) EDUCATION STUDIES The BA (Hons) Education Studies programme at Plymouth University enables graduates to develop a strong personal understanding of the world of Education within and beyond the school or classroom. Disciplines such as Psychology, Sociology, History, Politics and Philosophy are utilised to develop critical insights into Education. BED (HONS) PRIMARY Students experience teaching methods shaped by research expertise and also learn on the job in educational settings across the South West. With much of the course taking place in local primary schools, students develop their skills in the real world and get the preparation needed to take on responsibilities as a subjectlead in a chosen field from: Art and Design, Digital Literacy, Early Childhood Studies, English, Humanities, Mathematics, Music, Physical Education, Science or Special Educational Needs. BA (HONS) ART HISTORY This is the ideal programme for students who enjoy analysing and writing about art and who are keen to learn about past and present art. The programme equips students through a diverse range of modules and fieldwork to train towards a career in the arts.

BA (HONS) DANCE THEATRE The Plymouth University Dance degree offers students a practical course in dance training, dance making , movement improvisation and dance analysis and research. The University is also launching a new Pounds 7 million dynamic four- storey production house and specialist, teaching and learning environment which will offer excellent facilities for students. BA (HONS) ENGLISH Students on the English programme engage with the diversity of English literature across six centuries, from Shakespearean drama to the graphic novel. Students can choose from a variety of optional modules exploring literature in relation to history, politics and culture, including modules in creative writing. BA (HONS) ENGLISH AND CREATIVE WRITING The English and Creative Writing programme enables students to hone their craft as a writer by studying others. Students learn how to write poetry, fiction, non-fiction, screenplays and more and discover how to get published and experience the professional writing process. Joint honours are available in BA (Hons) English with French, History or Spanish BA (HONS) HISTORY Students at Plymouth study history from the 1500s to the present day.The degree programme covers world history, American history, European, British, and Imperial history, exploring themes such as maritime history, cultural and social history, gender and race, war and society, and political / diplomatic and international relations history. Joint honours are available in BA (Hons) History with Art History, English, International Relations or Politics BA (HONS) MUSIC Appropriate for students from both formal and non-formal backgrounds, this course offers students the opportunity for in-depth study of today's music, the western classical tradition and music of other cultures. Broad- ranging, practice-based and supported by excellent facilities, it covers composition, performance, computer-based arrangement and recording, and the social and psychological study of music.
