The application for the electronics industry centers on measuring the glass thickness for cell phones, tablets, computers, and televisions, all of which have thin glass screens. Much of this glass is thinned using a process that incorporates dangerous chemicals. Customers were looking for an alternative way to measure the glass during the slimming process without having to stop and restart the process. By using the Lumetrics® OptiGauge™ BZCon was able to design a process that improved throughput by as much as 35%.
