Leading Entertainment Technologists Launch Tragicom Studios

AUSTIN, Texas --(Business Wire)--

Renowned media and entertainment technologists, Charlie Boswell and Frank Filipetti, have announced the launch of Tragicom Studios with offices in Austin, Texas and New York City.

Tragicom Studios is an independent movie studio, focused on production and executive supervision of feature films, offering filmmakers and commercial clients a full range of pre- and post-production services, including both VFX and sound. Tragicom focuses best-in-class teams to meet the creative demands of fast production cinematic content for the cloud and broadcast.

Boswell and Filipetti believe their experience, coupled with a deep understanding of the latest technology, puts them in an ideal position to offer a very unique full production shop for their clients, which include internationally renowned entertainment personalities, such as Robert Rodriguez of Troublemaker Studios/El Rey Network, Trey Parker and Matt Stone of South Park Studios, and a number of Fortune 500 companies.

Between them, Boswell and Filipetti have decades of experience in both video and audio production for high profile projects. Prior to starting Tragicom Studios, Boswell, an electrical engineer and digital EFX artist with multiple patents, founded AMD's (News - Alert) Digital Media and Entertainment team, which was the vanguard of their new 64-bit processor technology to the professional content creation market. He and his team were responsible for creating the multi-year global marketing campaign AMD LIVE! leveraging professional cliens like Lucasfilm Ltd., Troublemaker Studios and Warner Music Group to compete with the Intel (News - Alert) Inside campaign. Filipetti is a six time Grammy winner and was one of the first leading engineers to explore the potentials of digital audio. His diverse discography ranges from Elton John to Luciano Pavarotti, Dave Grusin to Billy Joel, Frank Zappa to Andrea Bocelli; from the soothing sounds of Carly Simon and James Taylor to rockers Korn and Kiss; and numerous film and Broadway scores, including Grammys for Wicked, Aida, Spamalot, and The Book of Mormon.

"Over the past decade, technology has transformed the world of media and entertainment, allowing much smaller teams to create cinematic levels of production quality formerly only attainable with large studio budgets. While the on-demand industry competes for "eyeballs", the creators target and aggregate their audiences with a continuous stream of curated episodic content. Content has made the full shift in becoming a service industry and demand shows no signs of slowing," commented Charlie Boswell, CEO and Founder, Tragicom Studios. "We launched Tragicom Studios to provide the latest in fast production technology within an aesthetic environment favoring classic storytelling."

Tragicom is currently in production of a controversial movie that explores a eugenics connection between the rise of the high technology industry and the explosion of the autism epidemic. The futurist thriller MindBlinders is already creating a stir within tech and autism online communities.
