Dr. Stephen Hargarten Appointed President and CEO of the Center for International Health(Targeted News Service Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) MILWAUKEE, June 11 -- Medical College of Wisconsin issued the following news release: Stephen Hargarten, MD, MPH, Professor and Chair of Emergency Medicine, Associate Dean of the Global Health Program, and Director of the Injury Research Center, has been appointed president and chief executive officer of the Center for International Health (CIH) in Milwaukee. He will continue to serve in all of his current MCW leadership roles. "I see this as a critical time for CIH to advance and refine its mission. I feel strongly that it's timely for CIH to strengthen its commitment to its consortium members, be specific about the value it adds to its consortium member institutions, and be positioned to attract new consortium members," said Dr. Hargarten. "I look forward to serving as an effective catalyzing agent so that the CIH consortium can maximally take advantage of the diverse skills, experiences, and leadership of our members' faculty, staff, and trainees. Together, with all of us, we can effectively improve the health of communities, locally and worldwide." "We recognize Dr. Hargarten's many contributions to CIH as a member of the board of directors, his dynamic leadership as Associate Dean of the Global Health Program at the Medical College of Wisconsin, and his high level of expertise in the field of global health. CIH consortium members include the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee, the Medical College of Wisconsin, Marquette University, Aurora Health Care, Children's Hospital of Wisconsin, Concordia University, and Milwaukee County government. The consortium offers training, consultation, technical assistance, material resources and health systems development techniques to strengthen communities, their health care systems and the capabilities of their health professionals in emerging and developing countries.
