Three Vestcom Associates Receive Progressive Grocer 2014 Top Women in Grocery Award

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. --(Business Wire)--

Vestcom, the leading provider of customized shelf-edge communications and specialized marketing services for the retail industry, today announced that three of its associates-Monica Amburn, senior director of health and wellness; Patty Packard, director of nutrition and regulatory affairs; and Katherine Magann, product manager, content solutions-have been named Progressive Grocer magazine's 2014 Top Women in Grocery Award winners. Now in its eighth year, the prestigious awards program recognizes the integral role women play across all areas of the retail food industry.

The three Vestcom associates were recognized for contributing to the dramatic growth of Vestcom's healthyAisles® suite of solutions-the retail industry's largest in-store nutrition shopper-education program and the standard for incorporating health and wellness information into shelf tags, shelf strips, signage, circulars, websites, mobile applications and other markeing channels. Accomplishments cited included:

  • Monica Amburn: Amburn successfully established healthyAisles at a food and drug store chain, with thousands of locations on the East and West coasts.
  • Patty Packard: Packard worked with Vestcom's retail clients on developing new health and wellness attributes that can be communicated at the shelf edge to meet the evolving needs and demands of shoppers.
  • Katherine Magann: Magann developed and launched the first-of-its-kind vitaAisles™, a vitamin and supplement program and part of healthyAisles that helps marry in-store food nutrition programs to the pharmacy department.

The number of stores that utilize the healthyAisles program doubled from 4,800 in early 2013 to approximately 10,000 in the first quarter of 2014. Twenty-one retailers spanning 46 states now use healthyAisles.

"The incredible achievements of our 2014 Top Women in Grocery honorees provide an enduring portrayal of our program's founding purpose: to celebrate the continuing progress the previously male-dominated grocery industry is making to close the historical gender gap while prominently recognizing the vital roles women serve in their companies, communities and the industry at large," said Meg Major, Progressive Grocer Chief Content Editor.
