Jannah Hotels opts for BlackBerry-based mobility [ITP.net (United Arab Emirates)]

(ITP.net (United Arab Emirates) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Abu Dhabi-based Jannah Hotels & Resorts announced this week that it has integrated BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) into its hotel management services.

The roll-out saw Jannah equip its entire staff with BlackBerry smartphones, with some opting for the all-touch Z10 and others for the QWERTY-keyboarded Q5. Jannah said that new smartphones were given to everyone, including room attendants, engineers and the management team.

The idea is that the hotel staff will now be able to work more collaboratively through BBM, Jannah said. The hotel management company explained that internal requests between departments will now be coordinated through the mobile messaging platform, with the hope that this will prompt action more quickly.

The firm also hopes that this will bring a real-time updates to staff on guest requests and operational challenges.

"BBM is an amazing productivity tool. The integration of BBM into our daily operation enables instantaneous and trusted conversations between and within the departments and helped us vastly improve operational efficiency to deliver a richer and seamless experience for our guests," said Nehme Darwiche, CEO and founder of Jannah.

Struggling BlackBerry has lost significant ground with customers around the world since being the number-one smartphone manufacturer many years ago. Its latest breed of smartphones, based on the BlackBerry 10 operating system, have failed to cause any significant dent in the businesses of the top Android manufacturers and Apple, which makes the iPhone.

However, current CEO John Chen has not been deterred, and is seen by many as having rescuing the company from the brink. He has unveiled plans to direct BlackBerry to focus on enterprise customers, and last month committed to open up the BB10 OS to multiple mobile device management platforms, to make managing a fleet of BlackBerry smartphones a more appealing prospect.
