Kiwanis club elects officers [Athens Daily Review, Texas :: ]

(Athens Daily Review (TX) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) June 18--ATHENS -- By a voice vote, the Athens Kiwanis Club elected a slate of officers to serve for the coming year at its regular meeting on Tuesday.

Current Kiwanis president Adam Davis said the Kiwanis board of directors approved the list of nominees at its last meeting for officers and board members.

The officers who won election include: --President -- Colin Barrett; --Vice President -- Matt Tyler; --Secretary -- Leticia Carpenter; --Treasurer -- Bobbie Hawkins; --Past president -- Adam Davis; --Vice President of programs -- Jeaneane Lilly.

Davis said the officers will be installed at the fall banquet on Sept. 30 at Tilo's restaurant.

Members selected to serve on the board of directors include Betty Avendroff, Tilo Galvan, Gerald McCool, Diane Miller, Mary Nicholson, Norm Tumlinson and Dan Winfrey.

The Kiwanis membership stays busy this time of year placing flags around the community, park and courthouse square. The project requires placing the flags prior to holidays, and picking them up afterward to save wear and tear from the elements. That requires a quick turnaround between Memorial Day in May, Flag Day on June 14 and Independence Day on July 4.

Anyone who would like the Kiwanis membership to place flags in front of their business can contract for the service for $40 a year.

The Athens club currently has 86 members.
