CEA Named as Top Workplace by Washington Post

ARLINGTON, Va. --(Business Wire)--

The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)® announced today that it was selected as a Washington Post Top Workplace for 2014, as unveiled in today's issue of The Washington Post. The Top Workplaces are determined based solely on employee feedback from an independent survey conducted by WorkplaceDynamics, LLP, gauging satisfaction with benefits, their job and leadership.

"We are honored and excited to receive this recognition from such a prestigious awards program," said Gary Shapiro (News - Alert), president and CEO, CEA. "CEA's mission is to grow the consumer electronics industry, which helps improve lives through job creation, economic prosperity and the discovery of breakthrough new products and services that help make the world a better place. Our staff is deeply driven and motivated by our mission and proud to represent such a vital and vibrant industry. We, in turn, remain committed to providing our employees with a dynamic workplace that keeps them happy, healthy and motivated to fuel the industry and promote innovation."

CEA's culture is goal-oriented and focused on team work, employee creativity and future-focused strategy. All employees are encouraged to participate in a variety of cross-functional teams relevant to their field of work, interests and skill sets. CEA also invests in employee development through several in-house training programs, seminars and workshops, as well a tuition reimbursement program. The open door policy at CEA encourages employees to reach out directly to management and senior staff to discuss concerns, problems and suggestions for making the organization stronger.

In addition to traditional benefits, CEA offers several unique and compelling benefits that enable employees to achieve their personal and professional best, including a mortage assistance program, a flexible work schedule and summer work hours. In addition, CEA focuses on promoting employee health. The association offers instructor-led boot camp, strength training, and yoga classes, as well as access to an onsite gym open 24 hours a day, seven days a week at no cost to CEA employees.

CEA also owns and produces the International CES, the world's gathering place for all who thrive on the business of consumer technologies. The show's 48 year history has seen an evolution of technology from the VCR, DVD, GPS, HDTV, 3DTV, sensing technologies and more. Almost every major game-changing technology product in our modern day history has launched from the CES (News - Alert) show floor. CEA staff work year-round to produce CES, and are proud of the leading, innovative, global technology event it has become.

"We get to promote cool consumer electronics and exciting innovations. We have a supportive staff, butt-kicking boot camps, a fabulously family-friendly work environment, a bonanza of benefits and the International CES, the world's largest showcase of innovation. What's not to like?" said Shapiro.

CEA has received numerous awards recognizing the association's supportive work culture and unique benefits, including the Northern Virginia Family Service (NVFS) CARE Awards for five consecutive years and Virginia Business and Best Companies Group Best Places to Work in Virginia list. Additionally, CEA was named a 2013 Workplace Commute Champion by Arlington Transportation Partners.
