Polytechnic admissions to begin from June 27 [Kolhapur] [Times of India]

(Times of India Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) KOLHAPUR: The directorate of technical education (DTE) issued an admission circular for polytechnic courses on Friday. The admission procedure, according to the DTE circular, will begin across the state from June 27 and go on till August 20.

Like each year, the distribution of seats would be done through the 70-30 scenario, where 70% seats would be reserved for students from a particular school in a particular district, while 30% will be for the state quota.

Government Polytechnic principal MA Chigteri said, "Last year, the 700-odd seats were filled in the first two rounds of CAP itself. We are expecting the same this year as well. The college has some seats reserved for students belonging to the minority category as well." According to the DTE, there are as many as 69 polytechnic courses in the offing for students. As many as 334 application receipt centres (ARCs) have been set up across the state for the convenience of students.

If students are applying for seats under the reserved quota, they will need to produce attested photocopies of the SSC, school leaving and caste certificates.

The DTE has also offered 27 unique courses such as leather technology, garment technology, apparel manufacturing and design, plastic technology along with others this year. The merit list for these courses will be published through the centralized admission process (CAP).

According to officials, this year's response to the polytechnic admission is likely to be higher as compared to previous years due to a rise in the SSC pass percentage across the division and the state.
