Sellpoints Selects Altiscale's Hadoop as a Service [Professional Services Close - Up]


(Professional Services Close - Up Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Altiscale said that Sellpoints has selected the Altiscale Data Cloud as the foundation for a completely new line of business based on its Omni sales analytics solution.

According to a release from the company, Altiscale's purpose- built Hadoop as a Service provided the agility and elasticity to enable the rapid formation of this new line, while simultaneously improving Sellpoints data science effectiveness.



"Altiscale sits at the core of our company's growth initiatives," says Benny Blum, vice president of performance marketing and analytics at Sellpoints. "Altiscale enabled us to get our platform, Omni, up and generating revenue immediately, while also allowing our data science team to focus purely on delivering value to our customers with zero distractions." The company noted that instead of a toolkit of cloud instances that must be configured and managed, Altiscale directly provides Hadoop-native storage (HDFS) and jobs (YARN) as a service.

No configuration, operation, or monitoring is required on the part of the customer. Altiscale's purpose-built infrastructure is optimized for Hadoop, as is its pricing and support.


After evaluating several Hadoop as a Service alternatives, Sellpoints selected Altiscale's Data Cloud.

"Having built and operated clusters practically since Hadoop's inception, we know exactly what kinds of resources are required to keep Hadoop implementations consistently performing at a high level without breaking the bank," said Raymie Stata, CEO of Altiscale. "We created the Altiscale Hadoop as a Service specifically to offload the strain on resources and personnel when managing Hadoop." Altiscale is a provider of Hadoop as a Service (HaaS) solutions.
