(IntelliNews - Weekly Reports Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) The total value of new orders in the Slovak industry increased 1.3% y/y to EUR 3.8bn in April, slowing from a 6.2% annual growth the month before, data from the statistics office showed.

In 2013, the value of new industrial orders rose 3.5% y/y to EUR 42.7bn.

IntelliNews comment:  Slovak industrial orders increased for the eighth month in a row in April helped by a 29.6% annual rise in the electrical equipment sector which offset  the drops recorded in the country's two most important sectors, the car and and computer manufacturing industries. Slovak industrial orders are expected to continue their upward trend in the following period on the back of recovering domestic consumption and a stronger growth in exports. According to the European Commission, private consumption will rise by 1.3% this year and by 2.3% next year. Exports are seen rising by 5.6% in 2014. Slovakia's industrial output growth slightly weakened to 5% y/y in April 2014 from 5.9% a month earlier .
