TM sees 3m downloads for new app in 3 years [Business Times (Malaysia)]

(Business Times (Malaysia) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) KUALA LUMPUR: TELEKOM Malaysia Bhd (TM) anticipates three million downloads in three years for its newly launched voice and mobile messaging application service, called HyppMe.

The company hopes that the app, which will enable users to make voice calls, send instant messages and short messaging service (SMS) over Internet Protocol (IP), will take off fast as the app allows smartphone users to make free calls and send free messages to other HyppMe users, between TM fixed line numbers nationwide and to TM customer support number.

TM's vice president of business and media operations (new media), Emily Wee said HyppMe users will also enjoy cheapest call rate at eight sen per minute for voice calls and five sen per SMS to other telco numbers.

"Connectivity is no more a luxury, it's a necessity. In today's dynamic world that is constantly evolving, while everyone wants to stay connected to work, family and friends, HyppMe fulfils these needs to communicate with creativity, entertainment, flexibility and convenience, all in one application," she said at the launch.

Currently, payment is via credit cards and Wee said TM is working on reload card options and prepaid cards. HyppMe is available for both iOS and Android devices.
