GrayRobinson Patent Litigation Team Secures Database Encryption Victory

TAMPA, Fla. --(Business Wire)--

GrayRobinson, P.A., successfully litigated a database encryption patent on behalf of Protegrity Corporation against Voltage Security (News - Alert), Inc. After the first week of the patent infringement jury trial in Hartford, Connecticut, Voltage Security settled by purchasing a license to Protegrity's database encryption patent. GrayRobinson's trial team was led by equity partners, Stefan V. Stein and Woodrow Pollack and assisted by associate Kristin Shusko.

GrayRobinson has been actively litigating Protegrity's database security patent portfolio against Protegrity's competitors. Protegrity's patent portfolio covers the encryption of legacy and cloud dataases, data tokenization and intrusion detection to protect credit card, social security numbers and other very sensitive data from being hacked. Prior patent infringement cases against SafeNet (News - Alert), Inc., nuBridges, Inc. (acquired by Liaison Technologies) and Element Payment Services settled before the Voltage trial. However, the Voltage trial was the "bell weather" trial to almost 20 other patent infringement cases pending against Protegrity's competitors. Since the Voltage trial, Protegrity has settled many of the other patent infringement cases against its competitors.

Stein has been lead trial counsel in numerous multimillion-dollar intellectual property law jury and bench trials. His technical education in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Georgia Tech made him particularly well-suited to lead Protegrity's patent infringement ligations against its competitors. He is the only Registered Patent Attorney who is triple-board certified by the Florida Bar in Intellectual Property, Business Litigation and Civil Trial. He has been listed in Best Lawyers in America since 1995 and has been honored to be chosen as Tampa's Best Lawyer of the Year each year from 2011-2014 in Intellectual Property, Copyright Law, Patent Law and Patent Litigation. He rated AV Preeminent by Martindale Hubbell and has regularly been selected for inclusion in WTR's World's Leading Trademark Professionals, Super Lawyers and Legal Elite.

Pollack is a second-career lawyer, having received his Masters in Computer Science from Stanford University and initially working as a software engineer in Silicon Valley. His focus on database technology has been extremely valuable in enforcing Protegrity's database protection patent portfolio. He is rated AV Preeminent by Martindale Hubbell, board certified by the Florida Bar in Intellectual Property, and has regularly been included in the Best Lawyers in America, Legal Elite, and Super Lawyers.
