Bretford® Introduces Core™ 36M Charging Cart Optimized for Chromebooks

CHICAGO --(Business Wire)--

Bretford Manufacturing, Inc.®, a U.S. manufacturer of technology-enabled furniture for learning and business environments, has introduced Core 36M, a 36-unit charging cart that is optimized for Chromebooks, yet is versatile enough to also support most tablets, laptops/hybrids and ultrabooks used in K-12 education environments. The Core 36M will be shown for the first time in the Bretford booth (#627) at ISTE 2014, June 29-July 1 in Atlanta. It is expected to begin shipping in August.

According to an estimate by Futuresource Consulting, Chromebooks accounted for almost 20 percent of the mobile computing market for K-12 schools in 2013. And last year, Google (News - Alert) claimed that 2,000 schools worldwide now use Chromebooks for education, with the use doubling the past three months to more than 2,000 schools.

"Some of the reasons K-12 schools are choosing Chromebooks are due to their low price, ease-of-use and setup, cloud document storage and low IT management costs," said Robert Gabriel, product manager for Bretford Manufacturing, Inc. "Core 36M was designed to effectively accommodate the vast majority of Chromebooks as well as many other mobile devices. It encompasses a small footprint, an affordable price point and the solid feature set needed to take care of the devices being used for K-12 education."

Core 36M uses polypropylene dividers that protect the devices from being scratched when placing them in or taking them out of the cart. At the same time, the cart's digital timer provides an efficient method of charging 36 devices - it rotates among three power strips while operating on a single 15-amp wall circuit. And with cable management hooks in the front and power adapter bins in the back, the cart offers a simplistic way to keep device components neat and organized.

Core 36M has a small 25" W x 26" D x 41" H footprint that does not take up valuable classroom space. Its hinged doors provide easy access to the devices and the five-inch casters, two swivel and locking and two stationary, provide the necessary mobility to move the cart between classrooms as needed. The unit features a steel body and base, as well as a torque-resistant flywheel handle to deter access to the devices. Best of all, Core 36M ships fully assembled so it is ready for immediate use.

Core 36M conforms to North American safety standards for Information Technology Equipment: UL 60950 (US) and CSA C22.2 No. 60950 (Canada). Bretford provides organizations with products they can rely on to create a safe working and learning environment for employees, students and users. Learn more about the UL 60950 environment here.
