(IntelliNews - Weekly Reports Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) The number of LTE base stations in Russia increased by 9.2% m/m in May 2014, the federal regulator, Roskomndzor, said.
Mobile operator VimpelCom (operating in Russia under the Beeline brand) increased the number of its LTE base stations by 64% in the first quarter of 2014, Comnews.ru reported. Other telecoms declined to comment.
VimpelCom got access to the LTE frequencies in June 2012, along with its three competitors MegaFon, MTS and Rostelecom.
