Modernizing Medicine Provides Physician Quality Reporting System in Electronic Medical Assistant

BOCA RATON, Fla. --(Business Wire)--

Modernizing Medicine, Inc., the creator of the Electronic Medical Assistant® (EMA (News - Alert)™), a cloud-based, specialty-specific electronic medical record (EMR) system, introduces Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS) reporting through EMA. Providers using EMA will be able to transmit PQRS data to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) via PQRSPRO™, an automated solution for sending quality measures data provided by NetHealth Limited Liability Company.

PQRS is a reporting program that uses a combination of incentive payments and payment adjustments to promote reporting of quality information by eligible professionals. Physicians who don't report PQRS measures for more than 50 percent of their applicable Medicare patients for 2014 may face a two percent Medicare penalty in 2016. Using structured data captured in EMA during office visits, providers who have been EMA users for the entire year of 2014 will be able to obtain PQRS denominators calculated from January 1, 2014, enabling PQRS data to be transmitted to PQRSPRO.

"We are intently focused on making physicians' lives easier by helping them practice quality medicine more efficiently and by aligning our technology closely with compliance requirements," said Daniel Cane, CEO of Modernizing Medicine. "EMA already stores quality measures information, so having PQRS capabilities built in gives providers the greatst efficiency and convenience in reporting."

Template-free, macro-free and cloud-based, EMA contains built-in specialty-specific medical knowledge and can be accessed via the Internet virtually anywhere and at any time. This flexible format, combined with EMA's touch-screen interface and ICD-10 capabilities, gives providers the freedom they need to efficiently run their practices and the comfort of knowing that charting, coding and billing will be completed before leaving the exam room. EMA version 4.0 has achieved ONC HIT 2014 Edition Complete EHR certification and EMA Mobile version 4.0 has achieved ONC HIT 2014 Edition Modular EHR certification. Moreover, EMA's native iPad application is the first ambulatory EHR system certified as a base modular application for the iPad.

PQRSPRO is a qualified registry for 2014 PQRS reporting. To learn more about PQRS reporting through EMA, visit modmed.com/go-pqrspro.
