INSIDE Secure Protects Live Streaming Service 'BBTV NEXT' for TV Bank in Japan

AIX-EN-PROVENCE, France --(Business Wire)--

INSIDE Secure (NYSE Euronext:INSD), a leader in embedded solutions for securing transactions, content and digital identity, today announces that TV Bank, a live video distribution system and video provider for 3G mobile phones and iOS devices in Japan, has selected INSIDE's DRM Fusion Server to protect its live streaming service BBTV NEXT. BBTV NEXT is a multi-channel service offering 50 channels, including Disney (News - Alert) Life, AXN and Fox. INSIDE's DRM Fusion Server, a complete interoperable server-side DRM solution for streaming protection, will be integrated as a live encoder. This will allow BBTV NEXT to be DRM Microsoft (News - Alert) PlayReady in a fast turnaround time, providing the critical security needed to enable BBTV NEXT's Japanese subscribers to view premium content on mobile devices.

According to a study from MM Research Institute, a Japanese market trend and research firm, the total number of smartphone video viewers in Japan is expected to more than triple from 12.3 million to 38.4 million between 2011 and 2016. This increase is attributed to rising smartphone use and LTE (News - Alert) (Long Term Evolution) subscriptions in the heavily-wired country. It helped us speed our time to market," said Tetsuji Otsuka, system development manager at TV Bank.

TV Bank joins a lengthening line of content providers in Japan that has adopted INSIDE's DRM Fusion solution. These include J.com (Jupiter telecom's biggest cable TV service in Japan) and other Japanese OTT projects, as well as Rakuten Showtime.

"We are pleased TV Bank has selected our DRM Fusion Server to gain it lead time in providing the critical content protection required to stream premium content to its subscribers," said Dr. Simon Blake-Wilson, executive vice president of the mobile security division at INSIDE Secure. "INSIDE's DRM Fusion Server offers advanced capabilities that enable the whole DRM process from content protection, rights creation, rights and condition management to license generation and delivery. This means we can easily support content providers looking for opportunities to extend revenue streams in mobile video."

INSIDE Secure's DRM Fusion Server is a fifth generation, interoperable, server-side Digital Rights Management (DRM) solution. Designed for wireless and wireline operators and service providers, DRM Fusion Server implements and extends multiple DRM technologies such as Microsoft PlayReady, Windows Media DRM 9, 10 and 10.1, and OMA DRM while providing common integration interfaces. As an end-to-end DRM solution, DRM Fusion Server can create live and on demand services for any platform, including TV, PC and mobile. With DRM Fusion Server, the entire DRM process is enabled; from content protection, rights creation, rights and condition management to license generation and delivery.
