SCRA Announces First Tenant for Nexton Property


CHARLESTON, S.C. --(Business Wire)--

SCRA today announced its first tenant to lease space at the SCRA Applied Technologies Center at Nexton in Summerville, S.C., which is currently under construction. Aeterna Zentaris will occupy the third floor of the building and is scheduled to move in upon completion of the new facility this fall.

Aeterna Zentaris (NASDAQ: AEZS, TSX: AEZ) is a Canadian specialty biopharmaceutical company engaged in developing novel treatments in oncology and endocrinology. With operations in Quebec City Canada and Frankfurt, Germany, the company recently established its North American business and global commercial operations in Charleston, South Carolina, in early June. Approximately 60 direct jobs are expected in the state over the next few years.

Company Chairman and CEO, David Dodd, is a S.C. Low country resident and has successfully led multiple biopharmaceutical ventures throughout his career. These include: Wyeth, Solvay Pharmaceuticals, Serologicals Corporation, BioReliance Corporation and ther operations where he has either served as an executive or board member.

SCRA broke ground at the Nexton campus in October of 2013 and expects to complete construction in September of 2014. The Applied Technologies Center will house SCRA Charleston-area operations and the majority of the company's Charleston-area employees. Tenant companies will lease space as it is available.
