Crash car 'phoned emergency services' [Herald Express (UK)]

(Herald Express (UK) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) THE driver of a vehicle who was involved in a two-car collision in Kingskerswell has told how his car telephoned for help for him.

Chris Keenan, who was involved in the collision on the A380 Torquay Road, said he was amazed when his Audi used his mobile phone to alert the emergency services to the incident before witnesses had even arrived on the scene.

Mr Keenan said: "It is quite amazing what the car did via the Bluetooth technology on my phone. As soon as the airbags were deployed, I guess it contacted emergency services to let them know.

"I was lucky to walk away from the accident without any major harm. The only injuries I have are an impression of seat belt bruising on my chest." There were no reports of serious injury, although the driver of the other vehicle was taken to hospital.

The incident happened at 4.30pm on Friday between the Barn Owl Pub and the Penn Inn roundabout and caused major tailbacks.

Drivers reported journey times taking more than an hour longer than usual.
