New Board for the Ghana Standards Authority [press release]


(AllAfrica Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) A six-member Board of the Ghana Standards Authority (GSA), with Mrs Victoria Addy as Chairman, was, yesterday, inaugurated in Accra.

Other members of the Board are Prof. George Klu, Mr Hayford Kofi Nimoh, Mr Godwin Adagewine, Mr Mabel Apaloo and Dr George Crentsil.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Minister for Trade and Industry, Mr Haruna Iddrisu, called on the new Board to venture into the new area of standards in the oil and gas industry.

Mr Iddrisu urged the Board to liaise with the Ministry of Energy to ensure standards in the measurement of oil produced.




He said the GSA had reached a stage where it should be responsible for the payment of the wages and salaries of its employees and called on the Board to put in place the necessary administrative and institutional structures for the de-subvention of the GSA by the end of June 2015.
