Etisalat increases prices for e-life packages [ITP.net (United Arab Emirates)]

(ITP.net (United Arab Emirates) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) UAE telecoms provider Etisalat has recently increased prices for its e-life triple play packages, , increasing the basic cost of services.

The company has repackaged its triple play offerings (TV, landline and Internet) and given them new names such as e-life basic, e-life sport, e-life movies and e-life premium, but at the same time has increased the overall cost of the packages.

A basic e-life master bundle, with basic TV charges and set top box rental previously cost AED349 ($95) per month, but the new packages start from AED359 ($97).

Existing customers will continue to receive services at old prices, although it is not clear for how long this will continue.

Etisalat failed to comment on the price increases to ITP.net at time of publishing.

Repackaging of subscription bundles to offer slightly better services at an increased price, has become common practice among UAE operators in recent years, with the effect that basic costs for fixed-line internet services have gradually become more expensive.

The UAE already has some of the highest internet subscription rates in the region, despite calls from organisations such as the World Bank to introduce more competitively priced offerings.
