Chinese man accused of hacking into US computers

(Associated Press Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) SAN DIEGO (AP) — U.S. authorities have charged a Chinese businessman with hacking into the computer systems of U.S. companies with large defense contracts, including Boeing, and stealing data on military projects.

U.S. Department of Justice spokesman Marc Raimondi said Friday that the case raises concern and the federal government will continue using all tools to strengthen cybersecurity.

According to a criminal complaint filed in federal court in Los Angeles that was unsealed Thursday, Su Bin worked with two unnamed Chinese hackers to get the data on military projects from U.S. companies. Su then attempted to sell the information to state-owned Chinese firms, according to the complaint.

The complaint says the activity occurred between 2009 and 2013.

Su was arrested in Canada on June 28. He has a bail hearing July 18.
