LG introduces flexible OLED screen [T-break Tech (Middle East)]

(T-break Tech (Middle East) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Soon you will be able to roll-up your display and store it away. Granted that the ‘soon’ is a good 5-6 years away, but let’s be optimistic.

LG recently introduced an 18-inch flexible OLED display that can be rolled up to a radius of 3cm, while still turned on and receiving no damage. Now the display is not state-of-the-art in terms of resolution, it’s set at a modest 1200x810px, but the thing can bend, so it has that going for it, which is nice.

The possibilities of a flexible display is endless. Imagine a smartphone that can be stretched upto 10-inches for multimedia purposes and the rolled back to 5-inches for normal browsing.

LG also showcased a transparent OLED display while they had everyone’s attention, which is no less a stunner in itself. LG claims they can develop a 60-inch variant of the OLED panel in the next three years, and that it can even bump up the resolution to Ultra HD in a similar amount of time.
