Fluidic Energy: Producing Cost-Efficient, Environmentally Friendly Cellular Tower Batteries in Indonesia

(Targeted News Service Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) JAKARTA, Indonesia, July 15 -- The U.S. Embassy issued the following news release: U.S. Ambassador to Indonesia Robert Blake visited the American-owned Fluidic Energy factory in Bogor on April 14. Based in Phoenix, Arizona, Fluidic Energy uses metal-air battery technology and integrated intelligence to develop energy storage solutions for various peak shaving applications. PT Fluidic Energy Indonesia (FEI) opened their Indonesian manufacturing plant in 2010, and partners with Indonesian telecommunications company Indosat to provide battery power for cellular towers that are connected to unreliable power grids. The zinc-air technology used in Fluidic's batteries is environmentally benign, and replaces more environmentally harmful diesel generators and lead acid batteries. An Indosat representative emphasized that Fluidic's batteries are also more cost-efficient and reliable for their operations than alternative solutions.

The Ambassador noted the "value of this high technology U.S.-Indonesia business cooperation", and highlighted the significant strides Indonesian companies have made in environmental-friendly practices. Fluidic has received approximately $7 million from U.S. Department of Energy Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA) grants. "Fluidic Energy's technology is exciting because it's not only on the cutting-edge of battery technology, but it also has the potential for wide application in Indonesia," said Ambassador Blake.
