Skip Coale and Dennis Schrader Named to Leadership Positions on Howard Community College Board of Trustees(Targeted News Service Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) COLUMBIA, Md., July 18 -- Howard Community College issued the following news release: The Howard Community College Board of Trustees has named Edmund (Skip) Coale, III as chair, and Dennis R. Schrader as vice chair, effective July 1, 2014, through June 30, 2015. Coale most recently served as the board vice chair, and has been a member since 2010. Schrader joined the board in 2011. The Board of Trustees elected Coale and Schrader as its new leaders with a unanimous vote at its May 2014 board meeting. Coale, a resident of Howard County, is a senior partner with Coale, Pripstein, and Associates, PA. He has more than 40 years of experience in public accounting, having been a Licensed Certified Public Accountant in Maryland since 1974, and specializing in a wide range of fields, including federal and state taxes, start-up assistance and consulting, financing and capital structure, and general business consulting. He is an active member of the Maryland Association of CPAs. Coale is a 1991 graduate of Leadership Howard County and a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States of America. In addition, he was recognized as a Washington Smart CPA, the 2001 Accountant Advocate of the Year for Maryland by the US Small Business Administration, and one of Maryland's Smart CPAs by the Baltimore SmartCEO magazine in 2004, 2005, 2007, 2010, 2011, and 2012. A former community college student, Coale later attended the University of Maryland, before being drafted into the Army to serve in South Vietnam. After his honorable discharge, he returned to the University of Maryland to finish his studies. Mr. Coale graduated from the University of Maryland College of Business and Management in 1973. Schrader, who will serve as vice chair, is a director at Integrity Consulting Solutions and a faculty member at Towson University, with 30 years of experience in engineering administration. He has also served as the deputy administrator of the National Preparedness Directorate of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, and as the state of Maryland's first director of homeland security. Previous employment includes 16 years at the University of Maryland Medical System, and nine years with General Motors. A graduate of Kettering University in Michigan, Mr. Schrader also served on active duty with the US Naval Civil Engineer Corps until 1987, before retiring as captain in 2007. A resident of Howard County, Schrader was elected to the Howard County Council in 1994, and served one term in office. In addition, he holds a master's degree in industrial engineering from SUNY Buffalo, and is a licensed professional engineer.
