BRIEF: Frozen food maker to close Tulsa plant [The Oklahoman, Oklahoma City :: ]

(Daily Oklahoman (Oklahoma City) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) July 21--TULSA -- Frozen foods manufacturer Windsor Foods will close its Tulsa plant in September, cutting about 70 jobs.

According to a letter last week from the company to the Oklahoma Department of Commerce, Windsor plans to permanently shutter its production facility in September.

"As part of a strategic initiative to build on its competitiveness and market leadership, Windsor Foods has made the difficult but necessary business decision to close the Tulsa, Oklahoma, production facility," the company said in a statement. "The closure will allow the company to consolidate business operations and focus on core markets." Windsor has offices in Houston and Ontario, Canada. The company manufactures frozen food under several different brand names including Jose Ole, Ling Ling, Tai Pei, Bernardi, Golden Tiger, The Original Chili Bowl, Posada, Cripple Creek, Fred's for Starters, Whitey's Chili and VIP Foods.

"Production at the Tulsa plant will end in mid to late September, and we will be working with our employees in the coming weeks on severance and benefit plans and outplacement services," the company said.
