Xiaomi Mi3 in Malaysia now gets Android 4.4.2 update [Mobile 88 Online (Malaysia)]
(Mobile 88 Online (Malaysia) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Xiaomi Mi3 users in Malaysia can now perform the software update to upgrade to the latest MIUI version, and finally update to Android 4.4 from the default Android 4.3 version.
Tuesday is the usual release day for new Xiaomi hardware in the country, with today’s www.mi.com/my/ sales introducing the Xiaomi Redmi Note for the first time to the Malaysian market. Software releases though, have been virtually non-existent for Xiaomi’s flagship smartphone which has now been made available here for a few months.
However, Xiaomi Singapore’s Facebook page announced that the MIUI v5 update, version MIUI-KXDMIBE18.0, was ready to be downloaded for the Mi3 in the island nation, and would include the first addition of Android Kit Kat for a Xiaomi smartphone. In fact, the Android version to be made available is the latest yet, which is version 4.4.2 of Kit Kat.
Since launching in Malaysia, the Mi3 has only been running on Android 4.3, but with the Xiaomi Mi4 being officially launched today, it looks like local Mi3 units will finally be receiving the 4.4.4 update. The Mi4 will most likely debut with MIUI version 6, and might run Android 4.2 out of the box.
To update to the MIUI ver5 and Kit Kat on your Mi3, go to Settings >> General Settings >> About Phone, and then hit the System Update button- then just wait for your device’s first taste of Kit Kat. To know everything there is to know about the Xiaomi Mi3, check out our full review here.
