Finland : Nokia Networks connects Algerie Telecom sites with all-IP technology [TendersInfo (India)]


(TendersInfo (India) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Algerie Telecom, Algeria s state-owned operator, will soon be able to offer more reliable broadband connectivity to its subscribers across the largest country in Africa. To do this, the operator has appointed Nokia Networks to modernize its transport network sites with the highly flexible Seamless MPLS network. With this, subscribers of Algerie Telecom will soon enjoy significantly better data services.



This project underlines our resolve to deliver a truly differentiated customer experience to our subscribers, said Azouaou Mehmel, president and CEO of Algerie Telecom Group. We have complete faith in Nokia Networks capability to deliver on our vision due to its technical knowledge and extensive experience in similar implementations. Nokia Networks is a natural choice for this initiative that will stregthen our position as the operator of choice for Algerian subscribers.

Under the terms of the deal, Nokia Networks Global Services* project management and network implementation will assure the smooth deployment of the IP/MPLS (Internet Protocol/Multi Protocol Label Switching) solution from Juniper Networks, Nokia s long-term and trusted partner. The Juniper Networks solution is optimized to provide industry-leading system scalability and performance of the transport network to address the unpredictable growth of data traffic. The deployment will save operating costs and enable Algerie Telecom to offer flexible end-to-end transport services more efficiently and securely across network domains.


Nokia Networks will also provide network planning, optimization and systems integration to ensure that the opeartor s network can deliver the necessary throughput, latency and resiliency for the highest quality of service. A five-year contract also provides hardware, software and competence development services to protect Algerie Telecom s capital investment.

Following our recent LTE contract with Algerie Telecom, this is another important step in our long-standing partnership with the operator, said Igor Leprince, senior vice president and head of Middle East and Africa, Nokia Networks. This engagement is a strong proof-point of Nokia Networks commitment to take Algerie Telecom to the next level of communications technology.
